Small injections with an ultra-fine needle are then made into the fatty tissue. The procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Local anaesthetic and ice packs are used and make the procedure completely comfortable. Simple pain relief such as paracetamol and an anti inflammatory will assist with comfort, if required.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_toggle et_pb_toggle_1 et_pb_toggle_item  et_pb_toggle_close\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">What are the risks and side affects?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content clearfix\"><p>The most common side effects are mild and not permanent. Studies show that with each treatment side effects occur less frequently and to a lesser degree. The commonest side effect we see after treatment are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Swelling around the area injected \u2013 We expect to see swelling. It means the treatment is working!. We recommend not going back to work on the day of treatment and using ice on the neck intermittently in the hours after treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Temporary numbness under the chin. Approximately 50% of patients will feel this slight numbness after treatment, with symptoms wearing off after 30 days on average.<br \/>Warmth and redness \u2013 40% of patients will feel warmth or redness under the chin on the day of treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Firmess under the chin \u2013 Studies show that 16% of patients will feel firmness or \u2018induration\u2019 under the skin after treatment. This is no cause for concern and resolves, on average, after 51 days according to studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_column_1_2 et_pb_column et_pb_column_6  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et-last-child et_block_column\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_toggle et_pb_toggle_2 et_pb_toggle_item  et_pb_toggle_close\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">How many treatments are required?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content clearfix\"><p>A minimum of 2 treatments will be required. The precise number of treatments needed will depend on how much excess fat is present. Most patients will require between 2-4 treatments, however in some instances up to 6 treatments will be required by some patients to completely eliminate their double chin.<\/p>\n<p>A minimum of 6 weeks is required between treatments.
